June Social Media Trends Recap & July Predictions

Hii, homies! 🤠👋 We’ve dived head-first into summer — can you believe it’s already July? You know what that means… It's time to drop our recap of social media trends from June. Let’s dive in! 🏊‍♀️

SOCIAL MEDIA TREND #1: PLAYING WITH SIZE

Brands have creatively used AI and Photoshop to experiment with size in their social media content, and we’ve seen this trend snowball in popularity all year long. Rhode is constantly at the forefront of trends and their recent Pocket Blush drop was no exception. Just one peek at their grid and you can see how they used Photoshop to create oversized props and vary the size of their products and models. Not only did they hop on this trend while it was still hot, but this also aligned with their product being pocket-sized.

Another honorable mention: Lemme used AI to make their gummy vitamin HUGE and roll across the streets of NYC.

SOCIAL MEDIA TREND #2: BRAT SUMMER

Charli XCX’s sixth studio album, Brat, was one of the most highly anticipated albums of 2024, so it’s no surprise that it took the internet by storm. Her singles have been taking over our FYPs on TikTok all year as she went viral for collabing with Addison Rae, as well as featuring the internet’s favorite it-girls like Emma Chamberlain, Alex Consani, and Julia Fox (among SO MANY OTHERS) in her viral 360 music video.

Now, we’re seeing brands like Subway Surfers use her iconic album cover as engagement-boosting memes. Just search “Charli XCX” on TikTok and your app turns green — ICONIC! 💅💚

SOCIAL MEDIA TREND #3: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

Normalize hard launching your relationship via a viral music video!!! 👏It’s practically a routine for the internet these days — Sabrina Carpenter drops a new single, we eat it up, and it takes over the internet. This time around, Sabrina upped the ante and broke the internet with the release of her music video for “Please, Please, Please,” featuring her boyfriend, Barry Kheogan as co-star. Not only did the music video break 30 million views in just two weeks, but it became a trending audio on TikTok for her witty and relatable lyrics.  🤭

SOCIAL MEDIA TREND #4: BEACHY CONTENT

We’re in the thick of summer, so it’s only natural that beachy, summery content is everywhere. There truly is content inspo to leverage for every season — and summer might just be our favorite. This season aligns perfectly with beauty brands, and we’ve been obsessed with how they’ve embraced it on socials.

For example, Glossier knows its audience loves nostalgia, so they dropped a summer-themed, vintage-inspired line!  Sol De Janeiro has also leveraged it to drop limited-edition body sprays, and Rhode has been connecting with its audience through educational content that is perfect for the season. Seeing all this cutie content *almost* makes us feel like we’re at the beach… 👀🏖️
