For Instagram, you can program an automation to start in Manychat when any of the following occurs…

  • [PRO ACCOUNT ONLY] User clicks an Instagram Ad

  • User comments on your Post or Reel with one of the two below options (up to your selection during setup):

    • And contains any words

    • And contains specific words (ie you include a call-to-action for users to comment “KEYWORDHERE”)

  • User replies to your Story with one of the two below options (up to your selection during setup):

    • Reply contains any words or reaction 

    • Reply contains specific words or reaction (ie you include a call-to-action for users to respond to your story with “KEYWORDHERE”)

  • User clicks a referral link

  • User sends a Direct Message with a Keyword

  • User comments on your Live

Once the desired action is taken, you can program the automation to…

  • Reply to their comment with a provided message

  • Send them a DM with a provided message. This message can be inclusive of:

    • Text

    • Image

    • Audio

    • Video

    • User input (ie asking a question and having their response saved to a custom field of customer data)

USING MANYCHAT TO BOOST ENGAGEMENT ON SOCIAL MEDIA

One of our favorite Manychat automations we’ve been incorporating on our own Instagram is prompting users to comment a keyword to be sent a private DM that typically contains a link to one of our paid offerings, freebies, or blog posts.

Here’s why we love it:

  • It boosts engagement on our content, resulting in the algorithmic benefit of greater reach as well.

  • The more people that comment, the greater the visible demand for our offering, which may further incentivize others to want to learn more.

  • It streamlines the purchase process for consumers. They no longer need to scour through a lengthy link in bio to find what they’re looking for. Instead, we’ll send the link right to their inbox!

  • It opens up the door for conversation. When users are sent what feels like a personalized message and direct link to our offering, the conversation is already initiated for them to reply with any questions or hesitations they may have about making the purchase. This is especially valuable for higher ticket items!

  • You can tag users that have triggered an automation, allowing you to segment your audience by interest, etc.
