AI Tools for Marketing Agencies to Experiment With in 2024

The world of AI is expanding rapidly and now is the time to experiment and master it before marketers get left in the dust. WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE?

AI has taken the world by storm, but what exactly is it? Well… simply put, artificial intelligence is programming computers to be intelligent in ways that resemble human intelligence. AI allows computers to recognize speech patterns, understand language, and make comprehensive decisions based solely on prompts received from the user.  

BENEFITS OF AI

Being able to learn and adapt to new systems is crucial in the digital marketing world, but even more so with AI in the picture. The future of digital marketing is AI, so a lack of flexibility or willingness to learn is going to make or break your social media strategy, creation process, and results. 

Think of it this way: the world of AI is a virtual tool kit – there to help you out when you need it. Because AI tools are constantly working to improve their user interfaces, the process of integrating them into day-to-day practice is smoothing out. AI can be used for:

AI TOOL FOR MARKETING #1: CHAT GPT 

ChatGPT is a chatbot designed to assist in generating engaging content, answering questions, offering explanations, and more. ChatGPT is an excellent tool for copywriting because you can utilize it to flush out ideas, expand on specific topics, generate captions, learn code, create project outlines… the list goes on and on. Best of all, ChatGPT is a completely free resource, so take advantage, homie!

AI TOOL FOR MARKETING #2: JASPER 

Jasper is another resource that is extremely helpful for achieving high-speed productivity and performance. Jasper markets themselves as more of a team-based AI tool designed to assist in creating content, blogs, copy, SEO strategy, and more. With Jasper and Chat GPT you can seamlessly upload your brand voice to cater to your needs, resulting in copy that is readily suitable for your brand identity. 

AI TOOL FOR MARKETING #3: ADOBE FIREFLY 

Graphic design girlies, this one is for you!!! Adobe Firefly is a generative AI that outputs color palettes, images, and text effects. Adobe Firefly offers free and paid service plans if you are interested in experimenting with generative fill, text-to-image prompts, generative recoloring of images, or 3D-to-image interchange.  

AI TOOL FOR MARKETING #4: MIDJOURNEY 

Midjourney is a generative AI hosted by Discord that creates images based on text prompts. Trial and error with prompts in Midjourney is almost guaranteed because it’s a newer system, but we have a few tips for generating images to meet your goals!

Pro Tip: We recommend using ChatGPT to help write your prompts when starting out. Midjourney does well with in-depth, storytelling writing, so use ChatGPT to assist in creating a solid prompt. 


INSTEAD OF: /imagine a trendy digital marketing office with pink and green decor

USE: /imagine a photorealistic modern and trendy digital marketing office, predominantly styled in shades of pink and green. Incorporate sleek and contemporary office furniture, state-of-the-art digital devices, and creative workspaces. Ensure the overall ambiance reflects a dynamic and inspiring environment conducive to digital marketing activities. Pay attention to lighting, decor, and details that emphasize the trendy and professional nature of the space.

Images are generated in groups of four and as you create & narrow down your desired image, you can edit the output all the way down to the aspect ratio, camera lens used, etc.

We were able to use Midjourney to help us create our mood boards and photography inspiration for our client, Rizzi Home. Using prompts to create a dinner party look/feel in Midjourney (on the left) helped us visualize what we wanted the end product to look like, resulting in the real photographs from our shoot (on the right).

We were able to use Midjourney to help us create Instagram posts for our client, Tupelo Goods. Using prompts to create a gingerbread house in Midjourney (on the left) served as the starting point for what would be the background of some holiday-themed posts we Photoshopped the client’s product into (on the right).

LIMITATIONS OF AI

As stated, AI is meant to be used as a tool, not a replacement for your copywriting, designing, etc. While it’s brought significant advancements to the marketing world, there are still limitations and challenges. 

The most significant limitation is a lack of creativity and originality. AI excels at processing and analyzing data because that’s what it’s programmed to do, however, it has not yet reached the complexity of human-like creativity, intuition, emotional nuances, and cultural context. Essentially, while AI is proficient at data-driven tasks, it has yet to recreate the human touch that is, as we know it, irreplaceable. 

Another considerable mention is the privacy concerns that AI poses. Many users may be uneasy about the extent to which their personal information is being used, stored, and shared, which creates a more ethical issue that AI platforms have been facing. We recommend looking into proper cybersecurity measures if that’s something you are concerned with in regards to AI use on your devices. 

The most effective approach to a comprehensive marketing strategy is utilizing the strengths of AI and human creativity & expertise.

A gentle reminder: AI will never be able to fully replicate the work of real humans, so keep working hard and doing your thing. AI’s got nothin’ on ya, there’s no one like you babe 😉
