Hiring a Creative Director in Phoenix, AZ

Homemade Social is looking to add a creative, detail-oriented, and social media-obsessed Creative Director to our growing team!

This candidate will be coordinate with various roles across our agency to understand clients' design needs and will build out their creative strategy accordingly. They will play a critical role in creating original digital content across various platforms for our growing roster of clients and will ensure that outcomes are on budget, on brand, and incorporate current design trends. 

This full-time position must be based in our Phoenix, AZ office.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Responsible for completing all creative and production projects for Homemade Social and our clients through the management of the available resources

  • Concept ideas in all mediums and channels for social media clients that are on strategy, insightful, relevant, inventive, and original

  • Collaborate with clients, account managers, graphic designers, and social media managers to ensure that every idea is as good as it can be

  • Creatively direct, attend to, and oversee photo shoots and provide art direction to ensure design output captures the overall creative strategy

  • Can plan & design an aesthetically pleasing Instagram grid in no time (with our favorite social media scheduling tool Later)

  • Write and edit engaging, on-brand copy for captions, web content, blogs, promotional emails, infographics, and all forms of social media

  • Love creating fun content for Reels or TikTok

  • Provide feedback, guidance and assistance, to team members

  • Have knowledge of current design trends/innovations, methods, materials, techniques, and equipment employed in graphic and visual arts.

  • Expert at presenting ideas in all group sizes, both internally and client-facing

  • Adapt and change social media strategies as needed to increase effectiveness

  • Conceive, implement and measure social media analytics and Google Analytics

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Service Orientation - Actively looking for ways to help people

  • Computer Skills – Must be proficient in using common programs such as Gmail, Google Docs/Sheets, Asana, and Slack and be able to operate basic office machines

  • Graphic Design & Photography Skills – Expert with graphic design software tools such as the Adobe Creative Suite and Canva; ability to create appealing visual elements

  • Writing Skills - Advanced knowledge of grammar and writing in English. Consistently create clear and compelling copy free of spelling, grammatical, and formatting errors.

  • Attention to Detail - Must be detail-oriented; able to follow processes and routines. Execute social media publishing strategies ensuring that all posts are accurate, punctual, safe, and on-brand.

  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Time Management – The ability to effectively manage one's own time

  • Social Perceptiveness - Awareness of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do

  • Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem

  • Troubleshooting - Determine causes of operating errors and decide what to do

  • Prioritization – Must be able to adjust to changing priorities and complete multiple projects despite interruptions

  • Comprehension and Expression - The ability to comprehend and communicate information and ideas so others will understand

  • Physical Demands – Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. at a time; ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time; push, pull, and bend as necessary

  • Video editing skills are a plus!

Required Experience:

  • 1-3+ years in a similar creative role

  • Graphic Design, Marketing, Journalism, and/or Communications major, or similar degree field

  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and Twitter

  • Experience with social media scheduling tools (like Later, Planoly, or Buffer)

  • Experience with photography & photo editing

  • Passion for social media and on top of current social media best practices and trends

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from our Phoenix office
