How to Install a Meta Pixel

A Meta Pixel is a piece of code added to your website that monitors consumer behavior in order to measure and improve the efficiency of your digital advertising. Read on to discover how to install a Facebook, or Meta, pixel to your website!

SET UP THE META PIXEL

Before you can get started, create your Meta Pixel by doing the following:

  1. Head to Events Manager

  2. In the left-hand column, click the green plus button that reads “Connect Data Sources”

  3. Click “Web”

  4. Add your Pixel name.

  5. Enter your website URL to browse for setup options

  6. Click “Continue”

INSTALL THE PIXEL ON YOUR WEBSITE

To install the pixel manually:

  1. Head to Events Manager

  2. In the left-hand column, click “Data Sources”

  3. Select the Meta Pixel you’re trying to set up

  4. Click “Continue Pixel Setup”

  5. Click “Meta Pixel” then “Connect”

  6. Select “Install Code Manually”

  7. Copy the pixel base code

  8. Locate the header of your website or the header template in your CMS or web platform

  9. Paste the pixel base code at the bottom of the header section, just above the closing head tag

  10. Click “Continue”

  11. Optional: Toggle on “Automatic advanced matching” and verify the customer information you want to send

  12. Click “Continue”

  13. Add events using the event setup tool or by manually adding code to your website

If you’re using a partner integration:

  1. Head to Events Manager

  2. In the left-hand column, click “Data Sources”

  3. Select the Meta Pixel you’re trying to set up

  4. Click “Continue Pixel Setup”

  5. Select “Use a partner”

  6. Select a partner from the list

  7. Follow the onscreen setup instructions

Lastly, if you’d like to email someone your Meta Pixel setup instructions to update the code for you:

  1. Head to Events Manager

  2. In the left-hand column, click “Data Sources”

  3. Select the Meta Pixel you’re trying to set up

  4. Click “Continue Pixel Setup”

  5. Select “Email Instructions”

  6. Enter the recipient’s email address

  7. At the bottom of the page, click “Send”
