Using Audiograms to Grow on Social Media

Podcasters, musicians, and radio hosts- welcome to the blog post of your dreams! Let us guess… you’ve been trying to entice your audience to listen to your content on social media for a while now. Maybe you’ve even been a rockstar at posting consistently, but the content is just not resonating with or converting your followers into listeners. What gives? Read on to learn more about audiograms, a newer form of content that will leave your followers begging to hear more!

WHAT IS AN AUDIOGRAM?

An audiogram is an animation of audio waves that charts sound frequencies. Because social platforms only give the option of sharing photos or videos as posts, audiograms allow creators to reformat audio files into shareable videos! If you’ve never seen one before, we of course have to share an example created by our very own Becca Booker, co-host of the Better Off Said podcast. You can find that post here.

Audiograms are such a great way to promote your podcast, radio show, or music without showing your audience the whole thing. Using that one exciting clip will encourage your audience to listen to everything you have to offer. Plus, you can design the background image to fit your feed perfectly!

HOW DO I MAKE ONE?

When making audiograms, we’ve loved using the platform Wavve. They make creating the audiogram as easy as 1-2-3! Literally. Here are the 3 steps:

  1. Design and upload a background image for your audiogram.

  2. Upload your audio file.

  3. Trim it to the most enticing clip that you want to feature.

That’s it! You’re now ready to download and update your feed with fresh content that converts. If you want to be even more fancy, though, Wavve makes it easy to add subtitles. Our advice? DO IT! This feature is ideal for users that are either hard of hearing or scrolling through their feed on mute, which may be more people than you think. Adding subtitles could be the perfect way to get users more interested in your audiogram! If a user scrolls by your post and sees the subtitles, they could become curious and listen to not only the short clip, but your entire audio file.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Audiograms are one of the most effective ways to promote a podcast, song, or radio show. Think about it like this: consumers typically don’t want to buy something until they hear more about the product or service. The same thing is true for a podcast or song. A user may not initially be interested in hearing an artist’s new release, for example, but after hearing and loving a sneak peek of the chorus, they immediately rush to hear the rest of the song! When your audiogram effectively showcases the highlight of your larger audio file, users will feel enticed to hear more because they want to know what happens next.
