4 WAYS TO RESPOND WHEN SOMEONE ASKS TO PICK YOUR BRAIN

How many times have you received an email, DM, or text from (typically) a friend or acquaintance asking to pick your brain?! Or even more specifically, they ask you a question directly about how you do business or about how one of your services (that you typically charge for).

ALL OF US.

We get it. We’ve all been in that position before when someone asks to pick your brain. Sometimes you just don’t have the time for it OR it’s something you clearly charge to answer.

It can be a hard spot to be in, but we’re here to share some advice for how to respond to people when this situation may arise.

Here are some responses that may be helpful to you!

  1.  “I’m happy to help! I do keep my limited 1-1 time available for my consultations! I’d love to go over this with you if you wanted to book a call with me! Here’s a link!

  2.  “This is such a good question and I actually get it quite often! So often that I wrote a blog post on it! Here’s the link to check it out.”

  3.  “I’m flattered you came to me for this! I actually previously made a downloadable on this subject and think it would be really useful for you. Here’s the link to check it out!”

  4.  "I would love to help you with this via one of my consultations! Do you need me to send you the link to book?"

The key is to provide them to another source of information or action you want them to take!

We hope this comes in handy for you next time you’re in a situation like this! For more tips and resources to navigate client relationships, check out our Social Media Client Success Bundle.
